16 Apr May 10, 2025: EAC’s FIRST EVER Native Plant Swap & Giveaway
FIRST EVER Native Plant Swap and Giveaway
May 10, 9am to noon, at Opalanie Park. Rain date May 11
If you want to participate in the plant swap, please bring with you any native plants that you are dividing and have extra of.
It would be wonderful if you could bring a little sign with the name of each plant and the conditions it prefers (sunny, shade, dry, wet, etc.).
Feel free to go all out and list the creatures your plant benefits (you can look this up on wildflower.org and https://nativeplantfinder.nwf.org/Search) and any other interesting information.
Each person who brings plants will get a spot on the grass to display their plants. They don’t need to stay the whole time, but it would be nice if they did so they can teach people about their plants. We are all short on time, so don’t worry if you can’t stay.
Everyone who brings plants is welcome to also take plants. As we get closer to noon, even if you don’t have plants to swap, you will be welcome to take any plants that are left. AND – everyone can take home a FREE FLOWER through our POLLINATOR PITSTOP program. Our plant of the year is Wild Bergamot (Monarda fistulosa), a beautiful 2-3’ high lilac flower that loves full sun, blooms all summer, is easy to grow, and benefits birds, bees, and butterflies. We gave away seeds earlier in the season. Now we are giving out baby plants. Please bring something to put your plants in to carry them home. A bucket or basin of some kind would be perfect.
