Bird Song Presentation

Bird Song

Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 PM
Location: Township Building Meeting Room & Evans Park
Co-hosted by the EAC and Valley Forge Audubon Society

A bird’s song is a thing of beauty to the listening ear, one of nature’s most captivating sounds. Whether you hear it from your open window, while taking a stroll, or on the soundtrack of a movie, birdsong is all around us, if we take the time to listen.

Join us for Bird Song, a presentation designed for casual or beginning birders or anyone curious to learn more about the sounds that birds make and why they make them.

We will gather inside for a presentation by Valley Forge Audubon Society instructors John and Patty Werth, then move outside to listen to the birds who frequent Evans Park. John and Patty will guide us as we apply the information learned during the presentation, including:

  • the reasons birds vocalize, the variety of sounds they produce
  • how to interpret different calls and songs
  • effective strategies for learning bird vocalizations
  • tools and techniques used by experienced birders to identify species by ear.

Come learn, listen, and fall in love with the soundtrack of nature.
