Live Stake Planting Demonstration

Free Native Plants: A Live Staking Workshop

Presented by the West Vincent EAC Nature Tenders

Do you have a native plant you love and wish you had more of? Do you have a problem wet spot in your lawn or an eroding stream bank? We have a solution!

Join us for a demonstration of a quick, easy, and FREE way to clone your favorite plants to benefit people, pollinators, birds, fish, and water quality.

When & Where

  • Date: Saturday, March 14 (Rain Date: Sunday, March 15)
  • Time: 10:00 AM
  • Location: Griffith Farm Pond, 1358 Pottstown Pike, Chester Springs, PA 19425
Note: The pond is located on the south side of Griffith Farm, slightly north and across Rt. 100 from the firehouse and apartments.

What You’ll Learn

You will learn specific techniques to clone plants at home using Live Stake Planting. This method works beautifully for several native species, including:

  • Elderberry & High Bush Cranberry
  • Red Twig, Grey, and Yellow Twig Dogwood
  • Willows

Free Samples: We hope to have stakes of these plants available for you to take home! Please note that these will need to be planted in a wet area to thrive.

We will be performing a demonstration planting on the south side of the Griffith Farm pond. By adding more shade, we aim to cool the water temperature for the summer—fish and stream creatures love cool water! As the pond sits near the headwaters of Birch Run (an exceptional value stream), our planting will enhance water quality and help filter runoff from Rt. 100.
