Earth Day Event

Love Nature? Celebrate Earth Day at Opalanie Park!

Give Mother Nature a helping hand in our community park! Help out the woodlands (new and old), learn about birds, butterflies, and native plants, and enjoy a morning in nature with your community.

The Experience You don’t need to be strong—just gentle and patient. This is a meditative activity! Our woodlands provide vital services to our community—managing stormwater, moderating temperature, removing pollution, and protecting biodiversity—but they are struggling.

What We’ll Be Doing Let’s help them! While spending the morning in this beautiful place, learning about nature and listening to the birds, our activities will include:

  • Caring for young trees in tree tubes.
  • Removing non-native invasive plants that harm our native insects and birds.

What to Bring & Wear

  • Wear: Long sleeves, long pants, socks, and closed-toed shoes.
  • Gear: Bring sturdy garden gloves, pruners, loppers, or shovels (big or small) if you have them.
  • Hydration: Bring a beverage in a reusable container—this is thirsty work! Don’t worry if you don’t have tools; we will have extras on hand!

RSVP: Email us at eac@westvincenttwp.org so you don’t miss weather or cancellation updates.

  • Rain Date: April 26
  • Host: This is a West Vincent Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) event.
